Working with internationally renowned organisations ensures we are aligned with the latest scientific information, techniques and approaches to impact reduction and reporting.

Collaboration is a key dimension of the transition to a more sustainable industry. Many highly respected organizations exist to provide support and resources for companies like ours to become more responsible. We learn a lot from the support of these organizations, and we look to work with the most relevant ones on this journey.

Science Based Targets Initiative

We are working with the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi) to set meaningful and impactful targets, linked to scientific research and data.

The SBTi defines and promotes best practice in science-based target setting. Offering a range of target-setting resources and guidance, the SBTi independently assesses and approves companies’ targets in line with its strict criteria.

Grøn Cirkulær Omstilling

Grøn Cirkulær Omstilling (GCO) or “Green Circular Transition” is a nationwide program to accelerate SME’s towards a circular economy conversion. The project is funded by the EU and consists of workshops, collaborations and tools to identify hotspots, measure impacts, and plan a conceptual circular business model.

The initiative aims to educate organisations about sustainability and circular economy, while guiding them through the process of identifying viable development opportunities. We have been taking part in this initiative since November 2020 and will complete the course in 2021.

Sustainable Apparel Coalition

The Sustainable Apparel Coalition (SAC) is a global, multi-stakeholder non-profit alliance for the fashion industry.

It’s made up of over 250 leading apparel, footwear and textile brands, retailers, suppliers, service providers, trade associations, non-profits, NGOs, and academic institutions working to reduce environmental impact and promote social justice throughout the global value chain. The SAC develops the Higg Index, a suite of tools that standardizes value chain sustainability measurements for all industry participants. These tools measure environmental and social labor impacts across our value chain.

Higg Index

We use The Higg Index, developed by the Sustainable Apparel Coalition, to measure our impact as an organization.

The Higg Index is a suite of tools designed to help organisations measure and evaluate the social and environmental impact of their supply chain and activities. The Higg Modules provides us with impact data such as global warming, eutrophication, water scarcity, abiotic resource depletion, fossil fuels and chemistry. This information can help us make positive changes to the way we design and produce our products and operate and a business. The tool is also used to share data and knowledge between brands, alongside working towards an industry-standard way to communicate transparency with customers.

We are committed to reviewing and improving the way we operate as an organisation. Our impact and vision work is based on a diverse range of research methods and strategy's.

We followed a journey of discovery in order to understand our impact, and then set goals to target for the future. This was set out in a five-step plan:

Discover - Explore and define stakeholders and impacts created by the organisation. This includes supply chain research, identifying all company activities, and learning about the culture of the Pas Normal Studios world.

Record - This step involves documenting and mapping stakeholders and impacts, including measuring social and economic impacts, such as supply chain transparency and policies. This also involves identifying qualitative impacts, such as emissions, energy use and other resource use. This step is performed with tools such as the Higg Index, LCA software, and mapping tools.

Analyse - Using the information discovered in previous steps, we can identify hotspots and high-impact areas of the organisation. This process involves identifying what we do well, and what can be improved. This stage is a multi-stakeholder activity involving several departments, to educate and inform about the status-quo.

Set Goals - This step requires ambition and information. Using the previous work to define key areas of improvement and synthesise specific targets. Goals should be developed with the SBTi to ensure relevance and ambition are central.

Act - Once clear goals have been set, as an organization we must innovate and develop to achieve these goals. The goals are published and available to see, making us accountable for working towards them.
